A Latino artist from Texas, now living and creating in the Greater Boston area.
Edward’s visual language comes straight from Texas: the colors he grew up around, the rhythms of his Latino heritage, and the pull of family. Painting began as a way to cope during the pandemic and quickly became a real practice, built on discipline as much as joy. His bold, bright canvases draw on memory and community to hold both personal and collective stories.
Before painting, Edward worked in the hedge fund industry and then in education, working with neurodivergent communities. An entrepreneur, he is the founder of The Morning Goals and Rola Languages. He also writes children’s books, coaches creatives, and curates shows for emerging artists. His work has been shown in Boston and New York.
View CV“I don’t correct the accidents on a canvas. I keep them.”
My practice is built on what I call imperfect perfection. Drips, collisions and asymmetry stay visible, and earlier layers keep speaking under later ones. I treat the canvas like an instrument played live, moving around it with a palette knife and building pressure and color until it hums, the way the music I grew up with in Texas loops and layers.
I want the paintings to hold contradiction, loud and still, structured and loose, personal and open. I don’t ask viewers to solve them. I invite them to bring their own memories to the surface.
